made in west philadelphia | fueled by coffee, snark & internet memes

Stanley Chester & Albert Ceramics is a West Philadelphia-based company specializing in unique, durable ceramic vessels that complement a variety of domestic settings. Each piece is hand thrown on the potter's wheel using white stoneware, fired, glazed and finished with found and original imagery. SC&A strives to make our work accessible to a diverse audience so that everyone can own something beautiful and handmade.

Bethany Rusen is the creative force behind Stanley Chester & Albert. Rusen graduated with a BFA from Tyler School of Art in 2003 an earned her MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 2010.  In her spare time, she likes to go through other people’s trash, take her greyhounds to the dog park and scour the internet for Richard Nixon memorabilia. She lives in a townhouse in West Philadelphia full of strange things. Her hair is usually pink.

Stanley Chester & Albert has been featured in Grid Magazine, Philadelphia Weekly, Pride.Com and Art Star.

Who were Stanley, Chester & Albert?

Stanley, Chester and Albert Jesikiewicz were three brothers growing up the anthracite coal region of Northeast Pennsylvania. Albert was my grandfather, a machinist who worked for Westinghouse. I named my company after them because they knew the importance of hard work and the value of a well made object. I try to live up to them every day.
